European Masters Games (EMG) in Lignano from 10 to 20 September – over 3500 entrants, registration continues
Lignano – There are already 3591 competitors, representing 61 nations from the five continents, who will race in the European Masters Games (EMG) taking place in Lignano from 10 to 20 September. THE GOAL IS 4 THOUSAND ENTRANTS – 36 days to go for the second European sporting event dedicated to over-30 athletes and Malmoe 2008 (2950) record has already been beaten. The goal is to reach 4 thousand entrants. Owing to the large number of athletes registering for the event at the end of July, the deadline for registration through the official website www.lignano2011.it has been postponed. SEGANTI, WELL DONE – "We can already be satisfied with the results – said president of Lignano 2011, Federica Seganti – because with such a large number of competitors we are sure that the wonderful tourist attractions of Friuli Venezia Giulia will be appreciated by many Italian and foreign families". ITALY AHEAD OF RUSSIA – The Italian participation is of course the most numerous (856), then comes Russia (422) followed by the Ukraine (320) and Germany (240). Among the furthest countries are India (23) and United States (16) even if the Games are mainly dedicated to European nations.
FACILITIES AND ORGANIZATION ARE OK – Meanwhile, after the survey of the General Director of the International Masters Games Association (IMGA), Jens Holm, who judged excellent the conditions of the facilities as well as the overall organization of Lignano 2011, the final inspection of the hand ball international delegate, Doru Simion, has just taken place in view of men and women tournaments that will also award the European category titles. HAND BALL PROMOTED WITH FULL MARKS – Hand ball is one of the sports with the greatest number of teams (33) and for this reason the OC of Lignano decided to use the sport hall of Udine in addition to that of Latisana. Athletics ranks at the top of all Masters sports with 846 athletes, but hand ball is second with 495 athletes ahead of canoe-kayak (282). |
