European Athletics (EAA) – News – Helsinki 2012 ticket sales off to a flyer
Ticket packages are selling fast for next year's Helsinki 2012 European Athletics Championships. |
Tickets for the Helsinki 2012 European Athletics Championships have been selling well following the launch of sales, with the five-day and Friday-Sunday packages for the home straight selling out in less than a month.
A limited amount of other A-section packages are still available. There are also VIP packages available that include the opportunity to watch the action in Section A — the premium place to watch the best of European athletics throughout the week.
"It's better to act fast if you want the best seats", said Helsinki 2012 General Secretary Esa Honkalehto. "Section D on the back straight, meanwhile, provides another good viewing location. Like Section A, it is covered by a roof."
"Approximately 30 percent of tickets have been sold or reserved. Even with the initial rush cooling off, we are still selling hundreds of tickets every day," said Honkalehto."The next marketing peak in Finland will be before Christmas, so European athletics fans should move quickly to buy tickets before December".
Ticket packages start from 65 euros. The compact five-day schedule of the 2012 European Athletics Championships through 27 June to 1 July encompasses morning sessions with heats and qualifications and exciting evening sessions packed with finals.
With javelin very close to the hearts of Finnish athletics fans, a "javelin package" covering the qualification rounds for men and women on Wednesday 27 June and the men's final on Thursday 28 June is available. Friday 29 June will be a package of its own with 12 finals including the women's javelin final and the first day of the heptathlon.
The Saturday and Sunday package offers a staggering amount of action – altogether 20 finals – at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium. The home crowd could see success for the Finnish team in the men's long jump, pole vault and hammer throw as well as in the women's pole vault.
