European Athletics – (EAA) – News – Act now to book your place at the European Endurance Conference
With just over one month to go until the 2011 European Endurance Conference in London, time is running out to reserve a place, says conference organiser Richard Wheater.
The conference, a part of the 2011 European Athletics Coaching Summit Series, will be hosted by UK Athletics, England Athletics, the British Milers’ Club and the Ron Pickering Memorial Fund and is scheduled to take place at the Renaissance London Heathrow Hotel on 8 and 9 October.
“We have already had an excellent response from both domestic and foreign coaches, so I would urge anyone interested to book soon and guarantee their spot,” said Wheater, who is Head of Coaching for England Athletics.
“The level of interest is hardly surprising, given the quality of the programme offered and the buzz among coaches following last year’s great European Sprints and Hurdles Conference at the same venue. But, with the success of British distance runners in Daegu last week, I can see demand for places increasing even further as a lot of coaches from around Europe will want to come and discuss how to build on the momentum.”
“Having a number of top names from the USA, which has seen its own endurance renaissance in recent years, will add an interesting dimension to the conference.”
The line-up of confirmed keynote speakers and workshop presenters includes:
- Terrence Mahon (USA)
- Wynn Gmitroski (CAN)
- Jack Daniels (USA)
- Barry Fudge (GBR)
- Andy Jones (GBR)
- Thomas Rowland (USA)
- John Rogers (GBR)
- Toby Smith (GBR)
- Martin Rush (GBR)
- George Gandy (GBR)
- Dave Sunderland (GBR)
“I believe we have something of interest for all middle and long-distance coaches,” added Wheater. “While many of the sessions will be relevant to coaches of elite and aspiring elite athletes, we also have many sessions appropriate for those coaching children as well as coaches of more participation based road running and other endurance groups.”
In addition to the conference programme, the ‘Coaching Legends’ Gala Dinner and the British Milers Club Coaching Awards will take place at the same venue on the evening of Saturday 8 October. Before the dinner, attendees will have a unique opportunity to speak with some of Britain most renowned coaches.
