Seattle, WA – March 21, 2011 – There is a tradition quickly taking hold in the Pacific Northwest as the 3rdth, 2011. annual Dodge Rock ‘n' Roll Seattle Marathon & ½ Marathon benefiting the American Cancer Society once again nears a sold-out field. The race draws more than 28,000 participants each summer and will return on Saturday, June 25
The scenic race kicks off the Seafair summer series of events, and offers a running tour from Tukwila to Seattle. Runners will start at the Gateway Center in Tukwila, winding along beautiful Lake Washington with views of stunning Mt. Rainier, Seward Park and the Space Needle, before an exciting downtown finish at Qwest Field. Along each mile of the 26.2 and 13.1 mile courses, live bands will highlight the best of the area's renowned music scene while motivating and entertaining runners as they push through the distance. Participants will then join friends and family to celebrate at the finish line festival, complete with a beer garden and rockin' headliner concert outside Qwest Field.
Registration is available online at Competitor.com and is on pace to sell-out quickly. Anyone planning to run the full or half marathon is encouraged to sign up as soon as possible.
"It's a real testament to the success of the first two years of Rock ‘n' Roll Seattle," said Zoe Griesbach, Event Director. "We're proud to see so many runners returning each year and we hope to continue to build on the excitement surrounding the event."
In 2011, Dodge will be the title sponsor of the event, showcasing its new line of Dodge vehicles throughout race weekend, including the new 2011 Dodge Durango, Charger, Journey and Avenger models. Dodge brand vehicles will serve as pace cars on-course for the marathon and half-marathon and will be displayed at the Health & Fitness Expo presented by Power Balance. The Dodge Ride & Drive program will give the public the chance to test drive a brand new Dodge. For every test drive taken, Dodge will donate $20 to a charity of the participant's choice.
