Then follow eight marathons in Europe: the Istanbul Eurasia Marathon, the Ljubljana Marathon in Slovenia, the Venice Marathon, the Lausanne Marathon, the Dresdner Kleinwort Frankfurt Marathon, the Aland Marathon in the Aland Islands (FIN), the Maraton del Mediterraneo just outside Barcelona and the Porto Marathon in Northern Portugal.

In North America the popular Marine Corps Marathon is run through past the sights of the US Federal Capital and the Niagara Falls International Marathon lives up to its name by starting in Buffalo, USA and finishing at Niagara Falls (CAN), crossing the border at around the 5 mile point.

The adidas Dublin Marathon takes place next day on a national holiday.
