“We have started very early with ticket sales (the Monday after the Olympics). And we were very surprised as we sold 20,000 tickets in the first weeks, and this is a good first break. It’s a very attractive price-oriented concept.
“The next step is to achieve and develop packages for the Member Federations, with special offers. The Member Federations should not be shy and not hesitate to contact us. We want to make a common offer to all our fans in Europe because Berlin will be the place to be in 2018.”
Kowalski also gave a glimpse to the crowd of a new promotional video that the Berlin 2018 LOC have been working on, which will be launched in the coming weeks.
“We have set out a clear message that we want to combine our amazing sport of athletics with our amazing city of Berlin – it’s our main asset. (During the event), it will be a holiday so we will need to achieve a big pull for the event and it has to be the place to be for all our fans in Germany and in Europe.”
Recent winner of the European Athletics Rising Star award, Germany's own Max Hess expressed his strong desire to defend his European triple jump title in front of the homecrowd in Berlin in two years time:
