Organisers of the Bord Gáis Energy Cork City Marathon today issued a final rallying call for entries to the relay and full marathon with the deadline for registrations next Tuesday, 10th May 2011. Irish athletics legend Sonia O’Sullivan, who will run her first marathon in three years in Cork on bank holiday Monday 6th June called on people to join her on the start line.

Some 10,000 people are expected to take part in the relay, half and full marathon this year and this year’s marathon is expected to generate over €3million for over 150 different charities. Whether you’re a part-time jogger, an occasional walker or a first time marathon runner, the Bord Gáis Energy Cork City Marathon has something for everyone and is a fantastic day out in the City.

Sonia voiced some last minute encouragement for those who have yet to sign up, “It’s not too late to take part in the relay – grab your friends, your family, your work colleagues and register before Tuesday, 10th of May – you won’t regret it I promise and as well as enjoying a fun day out, those taking part will also be doing a huge fundraising job for charities that really need it. I’m hoping this year that the weather will be dry and cool and I look forward to seeing everyone on the start line.”
