Athletics Canada – News – National Track League website launched

Athletics Canada is pleased to launch today the official website for the National Track League (NTL);  www.nationaltrackleague.ca.  The NTL is a point based grand prix series which in 2011 will make stops in Edmonton, Halifax, Toronto, Vancouver and Victoria. 

"As an organization we feel very strongly that the creation and launch of the National Track League is a crucial development piece in the domestic growth of the sport of athletics.  In its inaugural offering the series will provide competitive opportunities in 11 women's events and 12 men's events with five of each gender eligible for overall series prize money," said Rob Guy, Athletics Canada Chief Executive Officer. 

Guy adds, "Furthermore the performance prize structure provides an opportunity for any athlete to earn prize money whether their event discipline is tabbed for series prize money or not. 

Add on top of that the prize purse structure being offered by each individual meet and we feel we have a pretty interesting package for Canadian athletes right here at home."
