Athletics Canada – News – Diamond League continues with Prefontaine Classic

OTTAWA – The Prefontaine Classic June 3-4 is up next in the IAAF's 2011 Diamond League series in Eugene, Oregon.  A number of Canadian athletes are set to compete at this historic meet including Dylan Armstrong of Kamloops, BC, Nathan Brannen of Cambridge, ON, Taylor Milne of Callander, ON and Megan Wright of Edmonton, AB.

Lining up on Friday in the Diamond League's 5000-metres is Megan Wright, going into the race Megan has set her sights on achieving the World Championship standard of 15:14 with an overall season goal of breaking 15 minutes.  Megan writes about her lead up to Eugene on her blog at https://www.megontherun.com/wordpress/?p=173. The race begins at 8:25pm local time (11:25pm ET).

Dylan Armstrong will take part in the shot put on Saturday at 11:47am local time (2:47pm eastern time). At this competition the shot put is not part of the Diamond race which Armstrong currently leads with 8 points.

Nathan Brannen will line up in the men's mile on Saturday at 10:28am local time (1:28pm ET) with Taylor Milne set for the two-mile race at 11:51am local time (2:51pm ET).
