The Daegu International Marathon, precursor to the World Championships that will be held there in August, starts proceedings on 10 April. In Europe the Alexander the Great Marathon in Thessaloniki is followed by three major spectacles: the Milano City Marathon, the Paris Marathon and the ABM AMRO Rotterdam Marathon.
With the cancellation of the Gaborone City Marathon in Botswana the only other event of the day is the Sao Paulo Half Marathon Corpore in Brazil.
