AIMS races – Coming up . . . this weekend – the Ruta de las Iglesias is held in Quito – the Hokkaido Marathon – the Victoria Falls Marathon in Zimbabwe

On 27 August the seventh edition of the Ruta de las Iglesias is held in Quito, capital of Ecuador. Six thousand runners will start the 10km race at 19.00 in flaming torchlight and progress past the ornate facades of many of the city's colonial churches.

Next day, on 28 August, five races are held on four continents.

The Hokkaido Marathon starts the action on the north island of Japan, followed by the Victoria Falls Marathon in Zimbabwe.

In Ireland only one of two races originally scheduled, the Longford Marathon,  takes place.

The Galway Marathon was cancelled.

Action then moves over to North America where the SSQ Quebec City Marathon is run in Canada and the Marathon Int'l de la Ciudad de Mexico in Mexico City.
